Kaleidoscope

Dimensional Typography, Graphic Design | Fall 2024

I used Processing to create dimensional typography. Processing is a coding language that works like a digital sketchbook, but instead of drawing with a pen, you create and “draw” with lines of code.

I chose Montserrat by Julieta Ulanovsky as my seed typeface. In Processing, my code commanded the letters to rotate around the z-axis. Each letter was repeated up to one thousand times and rotated in one-degree increments. The letters were randomly coded with RGB colors, creating the “kaleidoscope” color effect. After I finished my code, I created a book to showcase my dimensional typography.
